For one hundred and fifty years Bethel has been providing for the needs of Black families and others who are part of its ministry community. Today we are proud to claim owner/sponsorship of one of the largest housing ministries sponsored by any religious congregation in the city of San Francisco.

Bethel has become the leading activist and advocate for affordable housing in the Western Addition Community of San Francisco. Through the four complexes that Bethel now owns, it provides a total of 347 units of affordable housing.

A multifamily complex with 92 units of housing serving low income families. Bethel acquired Prince Hall through HUD’s LWAHA (Low Income Housing Preservation and Home Ownership Act) in 1995.

The most recent acquisition in Bethel’s Housing Ministry, a 98 unit multifamily complex covering one city block. Purchased in 2001 through a Limited Partnership between Bethel AMEC and Telesis West Corporation. Telesis West Corp. will transfer its interest in Thomas Paine to Bethel in 2016, leaving Bethel the sole owner of the property.

Bethel's housing portfolio covers three entire city blacks. Several lucrative economic and employment opportunities are made available through the Housing Ministry. Bethel is committed to seeking out issues and impacting conditions that effect availability, affordability, accessibility and quality housing, and strive to provide both strength and inspiration folk all who reside in their hosing community.
