Our Humble Beginnings |
Our Glorious Present |
| Because
of the unforeseen problems of organizing, in the beginning years
of Bethel there are no written records of the Senior Choir (now
the Chancel Choir) until 1913. Mr. John Dean, as the Director,
organized the choir at our Powell Street location. His daughter
as a child was the pianist who later in life became the organist
of Bethel and the first Minister of Music. |
Today
the Chancel Choir is under the Direction of Mr. Samuel Bennett,
and seeks to serve the Lord and inspire the congregation by
singing the glorious music that is our heritage. Included in
the repertory are hymns, anthems and Negro spirituals in both
standard and beautiful contemporary arrangements. Any person
interested in membership are urged to contact any member of
the choir and or the Director to schedule an audition. |

Objective
|
|
The
objectives of this Choir are to enrich the Worship Services
of Bethel AME Church, with our spirit and voices. Singing
hymns of fellowship and final rest, spiritual and gospel songs
of ceaseless praises unto, the Father, and the Son and the
Holy Ghost, which are One God in a state of happiness which
has no end; To interpret and impart the Gospel through the
ministry of song and music at all times whenever and wherever
the occasion.
